AUTHOR · PATIENT-VOICE ESSAYIST
Work With Me
I write from lived experience of serious illness, rehabilitation and assistive technology, for charities, health organisations, publications and technology companies that want honest, carefully researched writing from a patient’s point of view.

What I write
Patient stories and personal essays
First-person accounts of illness, diagnosis, treatment and recovery for newsletters, websites, campaigns and awareness months.
Case studies and product stories
Honest write-ups of how a product works in daily life, including what works well and what could be better.
Health, disability and accessibility articles
Clear, humane writing that helps readers understand patient experience, healthcare and independence.
Book and long-form projects
Three published books and more than twenty essays, with a consistent voice from start to finish.
Featured Case Study
Writing With My Head: How the Quha Zono X Keeps Me Connected to the World
A user story written for Quha about using the Zono X head-tracking system to write, work and stay independent.

The user’s perspective on assistive technology
I write using a head-tracking system and have a background in computer networking, so I can describe how assistive technology feels to use in daily life. I write for organisations, publications and professionals who want to understand the user’s side, including what a person with limited hand function needs from a device.
INVITATIONS
Speaking
I speak about assistive technology from the user’s side, patient experience and writing through illness, including at the North West Assistive Technology Annual Training Conference in Liverpool in December 2026. If you are planning an event, please get in touch.

How I work
Briefs and drafts
Tell me the audience, length and deadline, and I will send a draft for your comments before anything is final.
Time
I write with a head tracker, so I agree realistic deadlines at the start and deliver on time.
Fees
Rates depend on the length and type of work. I am happy to send a quote once I understand the project.
Honesty and independence
I only write about products I use or have properly tested, and I always say when I have a working relationship with a company.
